RUSSELL GOOLD
ProfileThe club is led by Sensei Russell Goold (4th Dan) and Sensei Lee Goold (2nd Dan) RUSSELL GOOLD Russell has been involved with the martial arts since 1975. He has trained in many different Martial Arts, including: Judo (County squad), Wing Chun Gung Fu, and of course Karate. Over the years Russell has had the opportunity to work and train closely with many famous martial artists, including, Jamie Guan, Choreographer, and Sifu of the Peking Opera, which is the training school of many famous martial artists, such as Jackie Chan, Samo Heung, and most of the cast of crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon. Russell has also trained with Sifu Richard Bustillo, Jeet Kun Do master, who also holds a 9th degree in the Filipino art of Dolce Pares Eskrima. (Richard was a very close friend of Bruce Lee, and told Russell some amazing stories!). Russell also holds a 2nd Degree black belt in Kickboxing. LEE GOOLD Lee has been involved with Wado Karate for over 24 years, she started training in the north east of England before coming to the midlands in 1981. Lee is also a professional choreographer, and has worked in film and TV, working with Steven Spielberg on the Indiana Jones movies and with Arlene Phillips on Top of the Pops, as well as many other and varied projects, not least Monty Python’s Meaning of Life! With over 14 years experience teaching Karate, Lee has had many students pass through the dojo door, a lot of them becoming instructors in their own clubs. Russell is married to Lee, and they have two sons, who of course train in Wado!
